He thinks that if Trump helps Zuckerberg, then Zuckerberg will give Trump “soft treatment” through the election on Facebook.
“Facebook can hand [Joe] Biden the election if they want to,” he continued.
“They know all of the bad content that’s on there, that’s untruthful, that they could shut down. Facebook could say, ‘You know what? We’re actually going to uphold the user policies. Most of the Trump and bad right-wing content that’s all bullshit, we’re going to stop that. We’re just going to stop it today.’
Facebook could do that.
They could make that decision today. Instead of 8 out of the top 10 trending articles every single day on Facebook being this right-wing dubious content, it only becomes 1 out of 10.
But they don’t because Facebook’s business model, as Zuckerberg was very clear, is—what did he say? ‘We sell ads.’ That’s their thing, they sell ads. If they can sell more ads, the more times people click on articles, the more times people send articles, and you’re more likely to send and click on an article that gets you angry and upset than one that’s kind of drab.”
