1871 ANNOUNCES ARRIVAL OF LEADING TURKISH STARTUPS
Turkish startups complete Teknojumpp Acceleration Program with business development, fundraising opportunities and a Demo Day in 1871

CHICAGO (September 3, 2014)—1871 welcomed eight Turkish startups to The Merchandise Mart today ahead of this year’s Teknojumpp Demo Days. After executing their final stages of business development and fundraising opportunities for three weeks, the startups will participate in a Demo Day at 1871 on September 18.  The eight startups will then travel to San Francisco’s 500 Startups, where they will participate in a second Demo Day on September 25.

“Innovative technology is part of an increasingly global industry in which the ability to reach international markets is necessary for long-term success,” said 1871 CEO Howard A. Tullman. “We are excited to welcome these startups to the 1871 space, and look forward to showcasing Chicago’s world class entrepreneurial ecosystem, including 1871’s extensive community and resources.”

The Teknojumpp Acceleration Program has been initiated by ODTU Teknokent, Turkey’s leading technology park management organization with more than 300 startups in-house, which receive services from Sente Advisory Services. The program, currently in its second year, is designed to accelerate the process of internationalization of technology-based startups through their process of commercialization in the United States.

Teknojumpp’s accelerator program begins with six weeks in Turkey, where selected startups receive business education and personalized mentoring. The companies work closely with the Sente Advisory team through scheduled individual meetings as well as informally in a collaborative work environment. After participating in a Demo Day, approximately eight companies are selected to travel to the US portion of the program.

Before travelling to the United States, the companies undergo intensive business development and fundraising preparation for two weeks in Turkey. By tapping Sente Advisory’s vast network, the companies contact potential customers, investors, mentors and partners to begin action on their US market entry strategy. The companies come to Chicago ready to complete their business development and fundraising activities and participate in the two Demo Days.
