London's mayor heads to Chicago on tech trade mission

The lord mayor of London is set to hit town next week in search of business for and investment in the British capital's fast-growing tech sector.
Sadiq Khan is due to meet with Mayor Rahm Emanuel and, more important, host a half-day conference on Sept. 16 at 1871, Chicago's own fast-growing tech incubator.
According to invites that went out today, speakers at the conference will include both mayors and the CEOs of Avant, 1871, CME Ventures, Enterprise Jungle and HereEast.
"You will have the opportunity to meet a delegation of over 25 high-growth London-based companies and hear remarks from leaders in London and Chicago on opportunities for collaboration in tech," the invites said.
The trip officially is being sponsored by London & Partners, a promotional group equivalent to our World Business Chicago. A spokeswoman described the trip as "a trade mission," one designed to connect with local tech users and funders.
It's not known what else might be on Khan's agenda. Perhaps, given how low London's murder rate is, he could give Emanuel some tips. I'd love to be there to listen in.
