1871 CEO Howard Tullman Speaks on Startups to ITU Gate Groups from Turkey
Nine top technology
companies from Turkey are landing in Chicago and San Francisco,
in the third cohort of 'ITU GATE International Acceleration Program'.
ITU ARI Teknokent, the technology park of Istanbul Technical University, offers the program to major technology companies in Turkey, bringing select companies to the USA in strategic partnership with Sente Advisory. In this round, the companies will take the stage in two demo days that will take place at 1871 start-up hub in Chicago on January 21st and at Galvanize SoMa campus in San Francisco on January 27th.
The speakers of the Chicago ITU Demo Day at 1871 Chicago will be Professor Mohanbir Sawhney from Kellogg School of Management and Founder & CEO of Basecamp, Jason Fried.
Developing specific technological solutions for diverse industries such as digital advertising, insurance and real estate, these companies will share their products and their business plans with participating investors, as well as journalists, entrepreneurs and potential customers during these Demo Day on 21st of January at Chicago 1871 and 27th of January at Galvanize.

AloTech is a web based, pay-as-you-go call center solution with complete enterprise functionality that runs on Google.
FideloCard is a loyalty program solution for small and medium sized food and beverage retailers based on dollars spent.
OBASE's Detailer is a software company focusing on business intelligence, data integration, and mining solutions for retailers.
ODC's SmartMessage is an omni-channel marketing platform that companies can communicate with their target audience via email, mobile (sms,push), IVR, social media (facebook,twitter etc) interactively.
UrbanStat allows insurers to measure their location specific risks, rapidly calculate accumulations, and set dynamic rules for business acceptance criteria for future customers
LA Software Group is a warehouse management solution that makes it easier for retailers to monitor, track, and optimize their omni-channel supply chain.
SFS is software development, consulting and information technology services company specialized in providing end-to-end solutions for the insurance sector.
Monument is personal cloud for photos and videos. It's a hardware solution that automatically syncs with devices to easily organize and manage your media content.
Wordego is an online advertising network that connects advertisers and publishers. The platform enables a more efficient and more effective marketplace for the user.

New 1871 Accelerator Looks to Create Opportunities For International Startups
Chicago incubator and tech hub 1871 is hoping that international tech startups will come to Chicago and expand in the United States thanks to a partnership with Sente Advisory Services.
On Thursday, the two organizations announced the launch of the Sente International Startup Accelerator, a 12-week program that will conclude with foreign startups spending four weeks in Chicago, emerging themselves in the tech scene and meeting potential American business partners. So far 1871 has brought in three groups of Turkish startups through its partnership with Sente Advisory and will host a fourth in August.
“Chicago, with its successful business heritage, its technology ecosystem led by 1871, and its strong talent base, provides the best and friendliest launchpad for international startups that are looking to expand and enter the US market,” Sente Advisory founder Serhat Cicekoglu said in a statement. “The program that we run at 1871 has proven to be an effective bridge between emerging ecosystems with global solutions and the US market.”
The program begins with startups spending six weeks with the Sente team in their home countries developing their project, and two weeks preparing for the transition to Chicago through mentoring and specialized programming. Then the startups head to Chicago for a month where they meet with clients and are taught how to pitch their businesses in the US market.
"We believe Chicago is the premier point of entry to the US market for any international company," 1871 CEO Howard Tullman said in the statement, adding "...1871 is uniquely placed to showcase the abundant resources that allow entrepreneurs from across the globe to come to Chicago and thrive."
1871 has worked to brand itself as stopping place and hub for international technology companies and political leaders. It has hosted foreign dignitaries, and has developed partnerships with co-working spaces in London, Tel Aviv and Mexico City.

Startups; Encourage Expansion in the United States via Chicago
CHICAGO (July 2, 2015)—1871 joined Sente Advisory Services
today to announce the launch of the Sente International Startup Accelerator at
1871. The program will bring groups of international startups to 1871 for specialized
programming designed to facilitate the development process for companies
seeking to expand in the United States.

community and the nation’s largest digital startup hub, 1871 is uniquely placed
to showcase the abundant resources that allow entrepreneurs from across the
globe to come to Chicago and thrive,” said 1871 CEO Howard A. Tullman. “We are

and look forward to welcoming future cohorts from Sente to Chicago and 1871. We
believe Chicago is the premier point of entry to the US market for any

The standard program with Sente Advisory is divided
into three stages over twelve weeks. During the first stage, participating startups
spend six weeks with the Sente team in their home countries to validate the
global strength of their ideas. Selected startups then dedicate the next two
weeks to preparing for their transition to Chicago by receiving direct
mentoring and participating in specialized programming. Finally, the cohort
moves to 1871 in Chicago for four weeks to immerse themselves in Chicago’s technology
startup ecosystem while completing their business development and fundraising
strategy. Throughout this last stage at 1871, the startups develop a list of
potential American clients and business partners and receive coaching on how to
pitch their businesses in the US market. 1871 has hosted three groups of
Turkish startups through its partnership with Sente Advisory, and will welcome
the fourth cohort in August of this year.

Since its opening, 1871 has hosted thousands of foreign dignitaries and entrepreneurs
seeking to explore the entrepreneurial and technology industries in Chicago. In addition to the Sente cohorts, 1871 has hosted
international startups for the US Department of State’s Global Innovation
through Science and Technology Initiative (GIST). 1871 also has formalized agreements with incubators and co-working spaces in
London, Tel Aviv and Mexico City. This international
involvement not only highlights Chicago’s growing ecosystem for digital entrepreneurs,
but also provides 1871 members with an expanding set of tools and resources so
that they can remain globally competitive as they develop their
businesses.
