Words of Wisdom - "W" - Part 4

Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god.

Why grow up when you can make movies?

Why is it so hard to say what’s in my heart?

Why is there never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over?

Why should it be easy when it can be hard?

WIIFM – What’s in it for Me?

Win first, then change.

Win them over or winnow them out.

Win today, tomorrow it may rain.

Windfalls are better than prat falls.

Winners waltz, losers walk.

Winning is a great deodorant.

Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all the time thing.  You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time.

Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is.

Wishbone test – when partnership breaks up, who gets the customers (fat side of the bone)

Wisdom is avoiding all thoughts that weaken you.

Wisdom consists not so much of knowing what to do, but knowing what to do next.

Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred
to talk.

Wisdom of the crowd – we no longer control our brands – the crowd does.

Wisdom outweighs any wealth.

Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast.
Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then.

Wishbone test: who owns the customer (gets the fat end of the wishbone) when partners break up.

Wishing things away is not effective.

With every goodbye, you learn.

With every wish, there comes a curse.

With great power comes great responsibility

With knowledge, you find out what the limits of arrogance and ignorance are.

With numbers, truth and beauty are the same thing.

With perseverance, you can discover any truth.

With success comes litigation.

With the rich and the mighty, always a little patience.

Within us all there are wells of thoughts and dynamos of energy which are not
suspected until emergencies arise.  Then oftentimes we find that it is comparatively
simple to double or treble our former capacities and to amaze ourselves by the
results achieved.

Without conflict of interest in the art world, there would be no interest in the art world.

Without emotion, there is no beauty.

Without freedom from the past, there is no freedom at all, because the mind is never new, fresh, innocent.

Without haste, but without rest. (Goethe)
Without promotion, something terrible happens…nothing.

Without struggle, there is no progress.

Women with more balls than a bowling alley.

Wonder is the beginning of wisdom.

Words divide, images unite

Words like friends should be carefully chosen.

Words mean what I say they mean.  No more.  No less.

Words should be weighed, not counted.

Words without thoughts never to heaven go.  (Hamlet-King Claudius)

Work comes out of work.

Work hard, stick together, improve every day, and always ask the question:  How
badly do I want it?

Work is much more fun than fun.

Work is the only practical consolation for having been born.

Work is the prayer.

Work is what I do.  It’s not who I am.

Work is when you aren't in command of your own time.

Work of excellence in any discipline is beautiful.

Work of excellence is transformational.

Work until your idols become your rivals.

Work-Life balance is for people who don’t like their work.

Workers don’t believe that you’re going out of business until you lock the doors and turn out the lights.

Working for him was like putting out a fire on the Alaska oil pipeline.  If you got too
close, you'd be burned to death.  If you moved too far away, you'd freeze.

Working here is like running ahead of a steamroller.  You can outrun it on a given
day, but if you ever sit down, you get squashed.

Working with grace, ease and precision.

Working with him was like being Dolly Parton’s feet.

Working with him was like trying to have a picnic at the end of the runway.

Works of art are of an intimate loneliness – only love can grip and fairly judge them.  Consider yourself and your feeling right every time.

World News Tonight: It's not world; it's not news.  It's just tonight.

Worry, if not gone altogether, no longer haunts you in the middle of the night.

Worry is a form of fear and all forms of fear produce fatigue.

Worry is interest paid in advance on a debt that never comes due.

Worry is not an action statement.

Worrying about being 'right" can stop all the momentum of a very interesting idea.

Worrying about the future is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.

Worrying can help you prepare.

Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want.

Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere.

Worth seeing, yes, but not worth going to see.

Worthless as tits on a boar.

Would you rather that the mission succeed or that the business flourish?

Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
That depends a good deal on where you want to get.
I don't much care where.
Then it doesn't matter which way you go.

Wouldn’t it be much worse if life were fair and all the terrible things that happen to us happen because we really deserve them.

Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.

Writers are nightmares from which you cannot awake.  Most alive when they are
alone, they make living hard to do for those around them.

Writers don't choose their craft; they need to write in order to face the world.

Writing a novel is like walking through a dark room with a lantern which illuminates the things that were always there.

Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.

Writing is a profession in which you have to keep proving your talent to people who have none.

Writing is a self-pleasuring act. It’s a bottom-up process. Fondling details.

Writing is the repeated application of talent and experience in an act of continual refinement.
