New work includes a small piece by Bobbie Moline-Kramer.
"Sadness/Disappointment"
Bobbie Moline-Kramer is one of the most superbly gifted realist painters of our time. Her unique vision and astonishing technical mastery combine to transcend the traditional boundaries of still-life painting. Her works transport us to exquisitely crafted worlds of light and form, balanced upon a tabletop. A pair of gloves, a strand of pearls, intricate Belgian lace, a silver tea-set, vibrant flowers, and luscious fruit - each becomes an object of devotion and revelation in her stunningly realized compositions. Kramer has a special love of reflective surfaces which inform many of her most recent works: crystallizing, fusing, refracting, and expanding the boundaries of the scenes. Kramer's precise optical accuracy in rendering these and many other subjects is without peer and has won her national recognition.
The artist was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on November 14, 1946. She attended San Diego State from 1966-1969, and the Art Center from 1973-1975. Kramer received her B.A. from California State University, Long Beach in 1983 where she majored in illustration. She then studied with John Baldessari, and Dick Oden. The major influences throughout her career have been the Impressionists, with their emphasis on capturing the immediacy of light and the pure moment; the 17th century Dutch Masters' glazing technique; and for her use of color, she continues to look to the California Impressionists and Maxfield Parrish.
Bobbie Moline-Kramer is a member of the California Art Club, the Society of Illustrators of New York, and the past President of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. She currently teaches at California Art Institute.
