“The commitment by these companies speaks to Chicago’s growing strength as a hub for the high-paying, high-skilled jobs of the 21st century and will help to ensure that residents in every neighborhood can participate in our growing tech economy,” Emanuel said in a statement.
The city of Chicago now has more than 40,000 tech jobs. The city has added more than 15,000 tech jobs since 2011, according to the news release.
The jobs announcement comes as Emanuel gears up for an April 7 runoff election versus Chuy Garcia, and it follows the other recent Chicago tech job announcements from Sprint and Textura. Sprint plans to bring more than 540 jobs to the Chicagoland area by the end of 2016, and Textura plans to add 50 this year while also opening a downtown office.
