An Interesting Decision Framework from Silicon Valley Bank

At SVB we have had a decision-making framework for years, called the “3-Ds” – Debate, Decide and Deliver.  

Debate – all parties are contributing to constructive, democratized/safe debate

Decide – the “decider” will call the debate phase to a close and make the decision.  Note all know who the decider will be – could be the most senior, most informed or most vested.

Deliver – once the decision has been made, all parties including those dissenting during the debate phase will collaborate for effective communication and delivery of the decision.  No passive aggressive behavior is tolerated.
