Charlie Meyerson from Rivet News Radio Interviews 1871 CEO Howard Tullman

LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW:

Charlie joined HearHere Radio in June 2013 to help reinvent radio news for the smartphone era. Charlie’s (unsuccessful) fall 2012 Knight News Challenge proposal for a “Smartphone News Network” provided a template for development of Rivet News Radio content.

Charlie brings HearHere Radio decades of experience as an award-winning journalist — including tours of duty at Chicago’s pioneering rock station WXRT-FM, the Chicago Tribune and WGN-AM, where, as news director, he led his team to awards for best newscast and outstanding news operation. At alternative all-news FM News 101.1, he served as Chicago bureau chief, helping the station win awards for coverage of the sentencing of ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Charlie also teaches news reporting at Roosevelt University; contributes occasionally to Crain’s Chicago Business, WXRT and WBEZ-FM; and consults widely in content strategy.

Charlie has a B.S. and M.S. in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He’s a member of the Illini Media Alumni Hall of Fame and considers himself inventor of the drop-slap method of throwing a Frisbee.
