Flashpoint Academy Becomes the Hub for an Amazing Final Fantasy Weekend in Chicago
It's actually hard to believe and maybe impossible to think that world-famous composer and concert rock star Nobuo Uematsu, his musical director and native Chicagoan Arnie Roth and representatives from Dog Ear Records and Square Enix, a major Japanese game company, all took time off from an international tour of the new Distant Worlds concert (playing the orchestrated music of 20 years of Final Fantasy video games)and from concert rehearsals for the U.S. premiere of the new concert here in Chicago to spend several hours touring Flashpoint Academy and then sitting with students for a great Q and A workshop and autograph session. And then they insisted that we join them and invite a bunch of FP students as well at the sold-out Saturday night concert at the Rosemont Theatre. This post only covers the concert and the next will talk about the great day we had on Friday at Flashpoint.
Ric really got into the spirit of the night and appeared in full costume.
But John Murray's outfit was even better.
Watching Arnie Roth perform and conduct the Pops orchestra after having heard him explain his strategy and plans for the concert at FP the day before and learning just how changing and dynamic each performance can be was really amazing.
